EMMY AWARD FOR THE YEAR

While the anticipation for the Primetime Emmy Awards 2024 was high, the actual ceremony honoring the best in U.S. primetime television from June 1, 2023, to May 31, 2024, took place on September 15, 2024.

The winner for **Outstanding Drama Series** was **"Shōgun"**. This historical drama, set in feudal Japan, captivated international audiences with its intricate plot, stunning visuals, and powerful performances. The series was created by Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo, who also served as executive producers. The lead actors who garnered significant international acclaim for their roles were **Hiroyuki Sanada**, who also produced, portraying Lord Yoshii Toranaga, and **Anna Sawai**, who played Toda Mariko.

For international audiences, other notable wins included:

* **Best Performance by an Actor:** **Timothy Spall** for "The Sixth Commandment" (United Kingdom).

* **Best Performance by an Actress:** **Aokbab-Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying** for "Hunger" (Thailand).



* **Drama Series (International Emmy Awards):** **"Les Gouttes de Dieu [Drops of God]"** (France/Japan), executive produced by Klaus Zimmermann, Ko Mori, and Amy Schildbach. The main cast included Fleur Geffrier and Tomohisa Yamashita.

* **Comedy Series (International Emmy Awards):** **"División Palermo"** (Argentina), produced by K&S Films and Netflix. The main cast included Santiago Korovsky, who also created and wrote the series.

These shows and performances resonated with viewers globally, highlighting the diverse and compelling storytelling present in television today. While the Primetime Emmys focus on American productions, the International Emmy Awards celebrate excellence in television produced outside the United States, showcasing talent and narratives from around the world.

The 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards took place last Friday night and one of the winners was Panamanian Kadine Anckle for her work as producer of the show "Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts" which won the Outstanding  Informational Talk Show Award.

"Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts is a talk show starring Good Morning America host Robin Roberts who hosts multi-generational female icons for tea and conversation. Each episode of the series features Roberts speaking with women who have made a name for themselves in the entertainment industry.".

One of the show's producers is Panamanian Kadine Anckle, who was in charge of collecting the award in Roberts' absence.

Anckle began her speech in Spanish by thanking the entire team behind the show and finally thanked Robin, saying, "And of course, Robin Roberts."

"Thank you, Robin, for being a wonderful host and shining light and allowing us to shine with you. Thank you for sharing that," she said, before concluding with a message of female empowerment.

The news was also shared on the weekend edition of Good Morning America the following day, with the hosts congratulating Robin and the entire crew.

The Good Morning America star took the award ahead of some well-known figures. Robin's show competed with GMA3: What You Need to Know, hosted by her colleagues and friends Amy Robach, TJ Holmes and Dr. Jennifer Ashton.
